The ambience and service was excellent. I was surprised by how many staff there were. Prices are on the high side but the food was great. We found the yakitori lacking and a bit salty but the horse sashimi, bee larvae, soba and chicken were top notch. We did regret not ordering the oden though.
Very near Matsumoto castle. Food was great - I had the Oden (as another reviewer has said, delicate and tasty broth), the Basashi (first time with horse meat, it was tender), and soba (very nice). They had great service with a number of wait staff on standby. Just a bit expensive though.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
Local food to try and other options.
We tried 7 different dishes, all amazing and interesting, even to grasshopper! …
One of the highlights so far during our stay in Japan. The staff were the highlight - they were attentive and so welcoming. We were treated to a number of small dishes by the lovely matriarch - some I'll admit we're interesting at first! …
Definitely one of the best meals in Japan. I tried the Horse Sashimi and it was very very tender and delicious. The fried chicken (No. 5) was out of this world and it is a must try. The Oden is their specialty and it was very delicate. Do yourself a favor and dine here!
